The government is currently offering tax incentives and
training grants to companies who participate in Learnership
schemes. However, many companies feel that there is too much admin
and organisation to make taking advantage of these rebates
worthwhile.
CBM Training would like to offer your company the opportunity to
put 1 or more of your currrent employees on our RPL Based
Learnership that will run in Edenvale this year, and have access to
a tax rebate of R50,000 per Learner.
The CBM RPL Learnership has the following key advantages:
- It is easy and painless to implement. You nominate employees,
CBM arranges the Learnership and provides you with all the
necessary admin forms
- You can use current employees, you don't have to find an
unemployed person and have the management strife of looking after
this person
- The program only takes staff out of the office for 6 and a
½ days (1 day every 6 weeks plus a "warp up" half day), and
delivers a full SAQA qualification
- There are 2 Learnership programs starting a month apart, so you
can book multiple Learners without them being out of the office at
the same time
- Satff develop and grow through the 6 small workplace projects
they need to complete
- Staff sent on the Learnership not only learn to do their jobs
better, they gain motivation from being sent on a
qualification-bearing program
- You access a R50,000 tax rebate per learner for your company by
completing a two page SARS form
- The training fees are tax deductible as training, plus you can
claim them back from your SDL Levy's
- You can use the fees paid when completing your annual BBBEE
scorecard, even if you have claimed them back from your SDL
Levies
- The workshops are run at the luxury Corporate Conference
Centre, overlooking the Glendower Golf Course in Edenvale

Administative Assistants, Administators, Office Managers and Clerks
- who have at least a Grade 10 Maths and have been working for 12 -
14 months.

Whats is an RPL Qualification?
RPL, the Recognition of Prior Learning, is a way to prove that a
person has the knowledge to receive a qualification without having
to attend un-necessary lectures on the subject.
We feel that a Learner with a Grade 11 (Std 9) or Matric with 12
- 24 months practical experience can, with access to our resource
kit and a facilitated group discussion, complete and pass the
requisites for this qualification in a 12 month period.
How the CBM RPL Learnership Works
To qualify for significant tax and other grants, your company
needs to nominate a relevant candidate/s. They sign a Learnership
agreement (Provided by us), and attend 7 workshops where they
discuss issues relating to the module, and fill in the RPL
assessment tool. They also need to do a small work project and read
a provided resource pack prior to the next session. The whole
Learnership will be completed over a 12 month period with only 6
half days out of the office for each Learner.
CBM Training can assist your comapny in filling in the necessary
forms to apply for your R50,000 Tax Rebate, your SETA Mandatory
Grant and your R25,000 Discretionary Grant.
What it Costs
The RPL Learnership costs R14,250 (exc vat) per learner, or
R12,850 (exc vat) for 3 or more learners. These rates are fully tax
deductible as a training expense, and can be utilised in the BEE
Scorecard Audit. The majority of this can also be claimed back from
your Skills Development Levy.
The Learning Benefits of the RPL Process
Doing an RPL qualification often reminds a learner what they
already know, as well as stretches them while they perform their
small workplace projects. They do also learn new things while
reading the resource packs, and participating in the group
discussions. Learners will definitely finish the Qualification with
more knowledge than they started with.
What you can Claim
You can automatically deduct R20,000 from your tax in the tax
year following the signing of the Learnership Agreement, and a
further R30,000 following the successful completion of the
Learnership by your candidates.
You can additionally claim the R14,250 paid per Learner back as
a "Mandatory Grant" from your Skills Development Levy, as CBM
Training is a registered FET college, and this process leads to a
qualification, this can form part of your PIVOTAL training.
In addition, you can submit a claim to your SETA for a
Discretionary Grant of up to R20,000 per Learner, which will be
paid directly to you if successful. However, these Grants are not
always awarded, so they should be treated as an "Extra" when
considering the business case for a Learnership.
What you need to do to get Started
If you would like your company to take advantage of the many
beenfits of running a Learnership in 2012, please contact Katja or
Erin on 011 454 5505 or email katja@cbmtraining.co.za
We will send you a full outline of the process, the
prerequisites for accepting a learner onto the RPL Learnership, and
a "Pre-Qualification" questionnaire for your proposed Learners to
complete. If the Learner is found to be of the correct level to
pass the RPL Learnership (Remember, your company only gets the
second R30,000 tax rebate if they pass), then we will send you a
confirmation letter to sign, formally nominating the Learners, the
SETA Learnership contract and a tax invoice for the Learnerships
fee.
Once all of these forms are signed and the invoice is paid, we
will register the learner on the SAQA system, send them the
resource pack for Module 1 and send you the SARS from to claim your
first R20,000 tax rebate.
Learners need to commit to attending the 7 required sessions at
